In loving memory of John Gay, rest peacefully. I thank him for everything he gave. His courage, kindness and commitment to others will continue to inspire us. A true pillar of our community, his legacy will live on in our hearts and in the environment and wildlife he worked so tirelessly to protect. Our heartfelt condolences go to Sue, Andrew, Bernadette, Kate, Matthew and all their beautiful families. John was a devoted family man whose presence and spirit will be deeply missed. His legacy is forever part of Wollondilly. I will never forget his warmth, wit and passion for what he knew was right. His calls every few weeks to me and my staff will be missed by us all. They always started the same way. He would say, "I have got some information about the council or government," followed by a witty and passionate plea to change some matter of public or council policy. John and his wife, Sue, have become like a family to us. I will never forget the photo of John before the last election with his walker and my sign out the front of what is now my office. John was a legend and was loved. We will miss him.
