Community Recognition - Walk It Off Warragamba Anniversary

18th March, 2025.

I would like to recognise the one year anniversary of Walk It Off Warragamba. Walk It Off, led by Chris Edwards,  is a volunteer run walking group which operates with the goal of supporting mental health issues. Walk It Off has several branches over Sydney, and I am proud of the efforts of those who have made such a supportive and valuable group available to residents of Wollondilly.

Walk It Off aims to reduce the stigma associated with suicide by providing a safe and supportive space for people to meet and connect. The repetitive motions of walking can make those tough conversations a little easier to have.  The act of walking alongside someone else who understands shows that no-one has to go through trauma alone - whether it is grieving a lost family member like Chris Edwards, who lost his teenage son to suicide, or for someone dealing with their own struggles.

Real life connection is so important these days, and I would like to congratulate the volunteers of Walk It Off Warragamba for their ongoing commitment to the group and for living their motto of "Change starts with a walk."
