Community Recognition - Wollondilly Anzac Day Ceremonies

06 May, 2025.

It was the morning of 25 April 1915 when Australians and New Zealanders landed in Gallipoli in darkness. It was through these battles that the ANZAC tradition was formed, and every year we pay tribute to all those who have served our nations. Even in times of peace, we remember with pride the bravery of our soldiers and we honour those who have sacrificed their lives or their health, leaving us and future generations with the invaluable gift of freedom. May all of us prove worthy of that sacrifice. I was honoured to attend the ANZAC day ceremonies here in my electorate of Wollondilly including the Dawn Service by Bowral RSL sub-Branch, services at Colo Vale and Bargo, and Oakdale Workers Club. Earlier in the week Taara Gardens held their ANZAC service, commemorating 110 years since the Gallipolli Campaign. I would also like to recognise the moving service held by Mittagong RSL sub-Branch including vintage planes flying the Missing Man formation, and ceremonies held by Thirlmere Wollondilly RSL sub-Branch, the Dawn Service at Hill Top War Memorial Hall, Picton Anzac Day Committee at Picton Memorial Park and Warragamba ANZAC Committee. Lest We Forget.
