Community Recognition - Wollondilly Performing Arts Centre

13th August, 2024.

Tuesday 30 July saw the opening of the multi-format Wollondilly Performing Arts Centre in Picton, which will provide a state-of-the-art local venue for music, theatre, exhibitions, and civic events. This centre's construction has seen the three levels of government talking and working together to achieve what will be a massive injection into the cultural life of Picton and the wider Wollondilly area. This project has been funded by grants, developer contributions, and building renewal funds. I am pleased to have been a part of the centre's conception. While serving as Mayor of Wollondilly, I was proud to work to get the Western City Deal Liveability Funding that resulted in this centre's opening, and I want to pay tribute to Hume MP Angus Taylor for collaborating with me for this funding. I also acknowledge the Hon. John Graham MLC, Minister for the Arts, Greg Warren MP, the member for Campbelltown, and Wollondilly Shire Councillors for attending the opening. I also acknowledge Aunty Glenda and Aunty Kazan for their Welcome to Country, and the Wollondilly Community Music Association for their brilliant performances. Long may this Performing Arts Centre be the home of brilliant performances for years to come.
