Wollondilly Shire Council has introduced its Disaster Recovery Volunteer Database, a new initiative focused on enhancing the community's preparedness for future emergencies by connecting local volunteers with agencies and organisations that require support during disaster recovery efforts. Backed by funding from the NSW Government through the 'Unsung Heroes' Social Cohesion grant, the database will help organise and coordinate volunteer efforts, ensuring a smooth and effective response when crises like bushfires, floods, or storms occur. By simplifying the process of matching volunteers with recovery opportunities, it allows more people to step up and contribute meaningfully when needed. The Disaster Recovery Volunteer Database welcomes both individuals and community organisations to participate. I encourage anyone who is able to sign up to assist in rebuilding and recovery efforts. We know that following disasters, our community's willingness to support each other is our greatest strength.
