Community Recognition - Ron Emerton

6th August, 2025.

Mr Ronald Emerton of Bargo celebrated his 100th Birthday on the 28th July 2025. Ron is a much-loved resident of Waratah Village in Bargo and his connection with people has always been a hallmark of his character, from his days as a businessman, to his service with the Lions Club in Miranda, and as a proud Navy veteran who enlisted at just 17 years of age. After serving aboard H.M.A.S. Cerberus N.A.S., beginning in 1943, Ron ran a successful retreading and mechanical business and lived in many parts of New South Wales before settling in Bargo with his beloved wife, Joan, whom he dearly misses. Since moving to Waratah Village in 2005, Ron has remained active, serving as Treasurer of the Social Club and embracing the friendships and community spirit the village offered. His 100th birthday celebration was a heartfelt gathering and Ron offered a moving speech, thanking everyone for celebrating with him, and expressing gratitude to all who have served and continue to serve in the armed forces. Happy 100th, Ron! Thank you for your service and your incredible contribution to your community.
