Media Release -Funding for Pedestrian Safety Improvements

6 March 2026

I am pleased to announce that the Commonwealth and NSW Governments have committed more than $2 million dollars in 50/50 Road Safety Program funding to three projects in the electorate. This is a great outcome for the Bowral and Mittagong communities to improve safety for pedestrians and motorists.

Today’s announcement includes three projects:

  • $1,068,000 for pedestrian safety improvements including installation of a footpath and refuges on Park Road, Purcell Street and Derby Street at Bowral;

  • $631,000 for pedestrian safety improvements including the installation of footpath, raised pedestrian wombat crossing and road widening adjacent to Southern Highlands Christian School on Boardman Road South, Bowral; and

  • $443,000 for pedestrian safety improvements including installation of footpath and fencing on Bowral Road (between Sedgman Avenue and Old Bowral Road), Mittagong.

I commend the two levels of government who have effectively prioritised project funding to reduce road deaths and serious injuries across three projects in the Wollondilly electorate.
