Media Release - Progress at Picton High School Welcomed

3rd March, 2025

Picton High School was established in 1958 as a co-educational comprehensive school and services a semi-rural growing community. The school has strong links with its local community and feeder primary schools.

The NSW Government has committed funding for a project to install walls in open-plan classrooms at Picton High School. This upgrade will provide enclosed classrooms, ensuring that students and teachers have suitable environments for teaching and learning.

The Stage 1 works are now complete with the new enclosed classrooms are now in use by the school. The design for the Stage 2 works is progressing. Stage 2 focuses on classrooms with more

complex requirements.

Quotes attributable to Member for Wollondilly Judy Hannan MP:

“I thank the School community and students for their patience in the upgrade of their High School. Unfortunately when I was elected I found work had stopped on the Hall and there was no funding for the internal of the school.”

“After a visit by both the Premier and the Minister for Education we secured funding to improve the school, allowing the hall to reopen and new classrooms to be created.”

“There is much more to be done to deliver the education services we need in Wollondilly and this is a great start, I thank the Government for listening to our concerns”
