The first round of the new Towards Zero Safer Roads Program has kicked off with the Minns Labor Government investing $4.1 million across the Greater Sydney region.
The Towards Zero Safer Roads Program is a comprehensive initiative aimed at improving road safety across Greater Sydney and Regional NSW.
The first round will initially prioritise planning of 15 new projects across the Greater Sydney region.
Wollondilly will receive $150,000 to go towards the delivery and upgrade of Menangle Street, Picton.
The NSW Government is focused on enhancing road safety outcomes. The Towards Zero Safer Roads Program will see the implementation of critical road safety infrastructure and speed management initiatives over a nine-year period.
These projects will deliver critical road infrastructure at high-risk locations that can help save lives. This includes safety upgrades like barrier and guard rail installations, and installation of mid-block pedestrian crossing.
The Towards Zero Safer Roads Program aligns with the 2026 Road Safety Action Plan, reflecting the NSW Government's dedication to achieving its goal of zero road trauma by 2050.
The NSW Government is also bringing together international and Australian road safety experts, advocates, academics and stakeholders on Thursday 22 February for a road safety forum, focused on improving road safety and making sure everyone gets home to their loved ones every time.
In Wollondilly, the first round of the Towards Zero Safer Roads Program will deliver:
-
Menangle Street, Picton – Separated through and parking lanes with longitudinal line marking works and improved shoulder on curve $150,000
